World-Leading AI Safety Researchers Gather in Oxford for TAIS 2026

OXFORD, United Kingdom, 6th May, 2026 — On Thursday, 14th May 2026, the Technical AI Safety Conference (TAIS) will make its UK debut at the Examination Schools, University of Oxford. Now in its third year, TAIS 2026 brings together world-leading researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to advance discourse on making AI systems safe, beneficial, and aligned with human values. The free, one-day, globally livestreamed event is organised by Noeon Research in partnership with the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative (AIGI).

Building on the success of TAIS 2024 in Tokyo and TAIS 2025, which featured speakers from the Center for AI Safety, Google DeepMind, Anthropic, and FAR.AI, the 2026 edition expands its scope to include technical safety research, AI governance, and formal verification. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Gary Marcus — Scientist, Author, Entrepreneur; Emeritus Professor of Psychology and Neural Science at NYU

  • Victoria Krakovna — Research Scientist, Alignment Team, Google DeepMind; Co-founder, Future of Life Institute

  • Sara Bernardini — Professor of Automated Planning; Member, AAAI Executive Council, University of Oxford

  • Markus Anderljung — Director of Policy and Research, Centre for the Governance of AI (GovAI)

  • Seán Ó hÉigeartaigh — Associate Director, Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence; Founding Executive Director, Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, University of Cambridge
